Welcome to Somerset Horsewatch.

Somerset is a large county, stretching from Bath in the east to Exmoor in the west, Thornbury to the north and down to Chard in the south. It's very much a horse county, with endless good facilities for all equestrian disciplines, from happy hacking to show jumping, dressage, eventing, racing and endurance. With all these good things, unfortunately, comes the bad......equine crime. Non of us can afford to be complacent, it's a sad fact that horses and ponies can disappear overnight, along with tack and trailers, without trace. All that love, money, blood (sometimes!) sweat, tears and laughter you have put into your lovely creature. Gone.

So what can we do about it? How can I put this?......YOUR COUNTY NEEDS YOU !!! to be members of Somerset Horsewatch, or local co-ordinators. To be aware of any suspicious persons or activity at or near your stables and fields. To take the registration of any suspicious vehicles. To take a good look at your stables. How safe are you?

Is your horse/tack/trailer registered or marked in some way?

Do you have current photographs of your horse or pony in case the worst happens?

Would you know who to contact in the event of a theft?
